I get shit from a lot of people (“people” being white dudes) because I focus “too much” on abortion. “Too much”? Too much? 

This is MY body we’re talking about. This is the bodies of millions of others we’re talking about. Right now Virginia Republicans want to forcibly insert vaginal wands in us if we dare get an abortion, for any reason. Rape survivors, who have already endured more than any person should, will be assaulted again at the hands of their own government.

We are being treated as less than men. We are being told we are the sum of our reproductive organs. While high ranking men have affairs left right and center we are told we’re irresponsible sluts for having sex without the intent of motherhood. We are being punished for having vaginas. 

I am not my vagina, I am not a uterus on legs; I am a human being. 

It must be nice not to have to focus so much on abortion when deciding on candidates to support. I don’t have that luxury because these are MY rights being stripped and killed before my eyes. I don’t have the privilege of turning my head away from these issues.

So if that makes me lesser in your eyes, if that makes me a stupid irrational voter in your dudebro eyes, then so be it. But if you don’t care enough about these issues to focus for votes on them then fuck you. These are your sisters, your mothers, your partners, your friends and family -these are people you know and love being told by the government that their happiness, their livelihoods, their freedom, is less because they have the audacity to live in the country with a uterus.
